The Chilean Stopper
Goalkeepers are usually a different breed and that is no different with Gabi. The Chilean stopper played football at an early age and credits his dad for putting Gabi between the sticks and blasting shots at him, rather than the other way round!
It was at school where Gabi honed his GK prowess, being fearless and not worried about throwing himself around when diving.
He played for minor clubs in his homeland Chile as well as in Peru such as Jaytai, Manucci or Rinconada, and also participated in a national competition. For personal reasons, Gabi decided to step away from football for a while before leaving to Poland.
After moving to Kraków and living in the city for a year, Muñoz had the buzz to play football again. A post on Facebook lead to club chairman Alex Băcica inviting Gabi to join the Dragoons in the Kraków Sunday League.
Muñoz quickly solidified himself as the number one and continued that in the club’s ascent to Klasa A. Unfortunately, injuries curtailed much of his game time in the 2023/24 season with Marcin Obyrtacz filling the number one spot.
