Bringing over two decades of experience from the football-mad streets of Bogotá, Mateo is a high-caliber addition to the Dragoons’ backline. His pedigree includes time in the academy of Independiente Santa Fe, one of Colombia’s most prestigious clubs, as well as featuring for traditional amateur sides like Caterpillar Motor in historic regional tournaments.
Mateo traded the Colombian capital for Krakow in September 2025 to pursue a PhD in Bioinformatics. Proving his priorities were in order, the very first thing he did after landing in Poland was search for a football team. After spotting a few fellow Colombians on the Dragoons’ Facebook page, he knew he’d found his new home. A versatile operator, Mateo primarily features as a fullback but can comfortably slot into the heart of the defense or midfield.
