A Fine Wine
A seasoned veteran, Frenchman David brings a wealth of experience to the side.
David started playing football at an early age, mostly playing for local village sides. He joined US Lantriac at 15, one of the leading football teams in his region. He played for Lantriac until adulthood, steadily moving to the first team at 18.
Nicolas remembers playing first team football at a good level as a real challenge. David said football at this time was far more brutal than the game today. He said the physical exertion was far more intense and he learned a lot about himself, different people and how a group of average players can make a great team when there is a good spirit amongst the squad.
David latterly played for AS Laussonne before quitting football due to starting a family. After moving to Lyon from Paris some time after, David signed for MOS3R a leading club in the regional fourth league. Despite this being a lower level than David had been used too, he enjoyed the camaraderie of being around football once again.
After moving to Kraków, David searched for a similar footballing project to be involved in and contacted Alex Băcica directly. After successfully trialling David joined the Expats and has made himself available when neede, making his Dragoons debut in the 6-0 victory away to Universum in the 19/20 season. Nicolas’ first goal for the club came in the 6-1 drubbing of Grom. Entering the field as a sub, David met an Enrico Forabosco corner with his head and sent an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
David mentioned that the intensity during training is most enjoyable and he wants to bring his commitment, wisdom and 30 years of experience to the team. He says sometimes, due to the high calibre of training he feels 20 years old again!
Thinking of a favourite team, David plucked for ASSE St Etienne and OM Marseille is his native France, but admitted he does not follow French football too closely these days. In terms of favourite players, David picked Paolo Maldini and Steven Gerrard. He said these are the sort of players who represent football in his mind. They stayed at one club all their careers and showed that a team is more important than an individual. David is not a fan of the modern marketing of the game and feels the spirit is lost with people choosing to support the likes of PSG just because Lionel Messi has joined them.
