The Fans Favourite
Everyone needs a friend like Błażej.
Blaze started his junior football career for his home town team Sokół Olsztyn. He later played a similar level as the Dragoons for Iskra Mokrzesz in the Częstochowa region, captaining the side on a few occasions.
Błażej mentioned that he travelled from Kraków to Częstochowa each week to play and in the end work commitments put football on hold.
Święcicki went two years without playing, until a work colleague invited him to the famed Tuesday kickabouts. A regular attendee, Blaze featured for the Dragoons Sunday League side and played in the clubs’ inaugural Puchar Polski 6-0 victory over Fairant.
Błażej scored his first Dragoons goal in the 2nd round of the Puchar Polski in 2019/20 against LKS Lotnik Kraków. With 14 minutes on the clock, a free-kick into the box made its way to the Polish attacker on the edge of the 18-metre line and he hit a fierce first-time effort, which flew into the corner of the net.
The Polish winger is a big fans favourite and one of the longest serving players, who will no doubt be in the Hall of Fame one day. Despite not always a first team regular, Błażej is always committed and will be in the stands supporting the boys if not selected.
In the 2023/24 season the winger finally made his 50th appearance for the side and notched the opening goal in the victory over Czarni 03 Grzegorzowice on the final day of the season.
#FunFact
Whilst playing in his previous team in Czestochowa Klasa B, Błażej was playing CDM and collected a lot of yellow cards. His friends started calling him “Rzeźnik z Mokrzeszy”, which translates to Butcher from Mokrzesz! One time Błaże got a quick yellow in the first half and the coach was shouting the whole half at him to keep it calm, survive till half time and be subbed off. Things didn’t go to plan however, as in the 44th minute he got his second yellow for an early bath. Incredibly, he ended the round with 10 cards in 14 games!
