Recap

Ruthless Execution

Kraków Dragoons delivered a dominant second-half performance to cap off their home campaign with a commanding 6–0 win over Czarni 03 Grzegorzowice.

As ever, Hugo Cruz was forced into changes for the visit of Czarni, following last weekend’s heartbreaking last-minute defeat.

Between the sticks, Marcin Obyrtacz returned to the starting XI, reclaiming his spot from Gabi Muñoz.

The defence remained unchanged, with Roman Bilovol and Szymon Urzędowski operating at full-back, while Kuba Drobny continued his centre-back partnership with Simon Calabrese.

In midfield, Cruz stuck with his trusted trio. Enrico Forabosco and Corneille Malonga lined up alongside Rohit Chandran, looking to dictate the tempo and pull the strings.

Up front, Flavio Nkola dropped to the bench and Yuri Samyonov missed out through injury. That opened the door for Jan Kołodziejski to reclaim a place on the left flank, with Vałdzis Fuhaš leading the line and Martin Voženílek completing the attacking trio.

First Half

Czarni, clearly short on numbers, revealed their hand within seconds of kick-off. Twice they hoofed the ball high over the fence—seemingly more interested in losing match balls than playing football, perhaps hoping the game might be abandoned altogether!

However, the visitors quickly showed attacking intent and threatened first with a long-range free-kick in the 4th minute. A powerful strike was sent towards Obyrtacz’s goal, but the Dragoons’ custodian got behind the ball well to save.

The Dragoons followed with a chance of their own after 8 minutes. Jan Kołodziejski found space on the edge of the box and struck a low shot at goal. However, the attempt lacked the power to seriously trouble Czarni goalkeeper Dawid Dudek, who got down well to save.

As the game entered its tenth minute, Czarni began to grow in confidence. They looked to exploit their dangerman, Damian Klimek, down the left flank and won a couple of early corners. The second delivery caused chaos in the Expats’ box, with a follow-up shot flying just over the bar.

The Battle Commences

It had not been the most elegant of starts from the Dragoons, who struggled to break through the visitors’ low block. However, the Expats kept probing, and Enrico Forabosco forced Dudek into a smart save in the 14th minute. The Czarni stopper tipped the midfielder’s shot onto the top of his own bar to keep the game level.

Despite being second best, the visitors created two quick chances. One flew over the target, but the second found Klimek on the left. The winger ran at goal and unleashed a powerful angled shot, forcing Obyrtacz to palm it wide.

Chances Galore

The Expats continued to pass the ball around with Forabosco pulling the strings. The Italian found Fuhaš, who tried to fashion a shot but took one touch too many. The ball eventually fell back to Forabosco, whose long-range drive required another reflex save.

From the resulting corner, Fuhaš had a glorious chance to open the scoring. He found himself unmarked at the far post but failed to make clean contact and sent his header wide.

The Dragoons smelt blood as Czarni fell deeper into their own half. Cruz’s side upped the intensity and saw a goal ruled out in the 27th minute. After a couple of blocked efforts, the Expats retained possession, and Rohit Chandran scooped a pass to the back post. Jan Kołodziejski stroked it into the net, only to be denied by the offside flag.

Dragoons Into The Lead

Persistence paid off in the 34th minute. Corneille Malonga showed excellent persistence, stealing the ball from off a defender’s toes to put himself through on goal. The Congolese pocket dynamo then rifled the ball past the keeper to give the Dragoons a deserved lead.

Two minutes later, the Dragoons pressed again. Czarni failed to clear, and Kołodziejski took possession on the edge of the box, cut inside, and sent a low shot at goal. Once more, Dudek got down well to deny him.

With five minutes to play in the half, Forabosco nearly doubled the lead after a poor clearance fell to him. He rolled back the years, evading two defenders with a drop of the shoulder and curled a left-footed effort goalward. Dudek, however, flew to his right to make another fine stop.

Dragoons Continue To Battle

In the 41st minute, the Expats somehow failed to make it two. Chandran found Kołodziejski in space. The Polish forward beat a defender but struck a tame shot, which Dudek saved with his foot. The rebound came back to Kołodziejski, but his second attempt was miraculously palmed wide by the Czarni keeper. He really ought to have doubled the Dragoons lead!

Fuhaš was next to try his luck in the 44th minute, but again Dudek was equal to the task. The Dragoons forward hit a clean shot from a Forabosco pass, only to see it saved. A superhuman display by the visiting goalkeeper!

The half ended 1–0, with the Dragoons frustrated not to be further ahead despite dominating proceedings.

Second Half

The Dragoons made a triple change at the break: Gabi Muñoz, Flavio Nkola, and Michael Syska-Lamb came on for Obyrtacz, Fuhaš, and Drobny.

Immediately after the restart, the Dragoons swarmed forward. Urzędowski had the first sight of goal but fired wide. Moments later, Chandran was clipped en route to goal and earned a free-kick, which Forabosco sent straight at the keeper.

The pressure continued as Chandran regained possession in the box and set up Kołodziejski. However, it was seemingly not going to be the forward’s day as he clipped the bar with a curling effort.

Dragoons Lead Doubled

The breakthrough came in the 53rd minute. Nkola surged forward on a trademark powerful run and squared to Voženílek, who tapped home from close range to make it 2–0. A brilliant assist to underline the Dragoons’ dominance.

The Third Arrives

In the 66th minute, Malonga intercepted on halfway and combined with Nkola before surging forward. The Congolese passed to Kołodziejski, who had acres of space and lashed the ball in off the post finally get his goal to make it 3–0. It was his final act before making way for Fernando Gámez.

Gámez made an instant impact, buzzing around the box. He laid the ball to Nkola, whose vicious strike drew another low save from Dudek.

Dragoons Grab The Fourth

In the 77th minute, the fourth arrived. Malonga again won possession, and the ball fell to Gámez, who weaved past non-existent defending to slot home for his fourth goal in seven games.

Fifth In Quick Succession

Less than a minute later, the fifth goal followed. Forabosco played wide to Voženílek, who returned the favour with a cut-back to find Gámez. The Canarian King, laid it back into the path of Forabosco, who took a touch and whipped the ball calmly into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Wrapped Up

In the 80th minute, the Dragoons added a sixth. Bałuch linked up with Voženílek on the right and whipped in a cross. Forabosco arrived unmarked to hammer home his second of the match and capped his 108th appearance with his 51st goal for the club.

The final ten minutes passed without incident as the Dragoons sealed an emphatic victory.

Next Up

The final game of the season is here, and the Dragoons are back on the road as they travel to face Kmita II Zabierzów.

Currently sitting 5th in the table, Kmita boast a record closely mirroring the Expats — 13 wins, 4 draws, and 7 losses. They’ve netted 55 goals (10 fewer than the Dragoons), while both sides have conceded 38.

When the teams last met, a quickfire double from Flavio Nkola and Corneille Malonga sealed a hard-fought victory for the Dragoons.
