Recap
Now That’s Entertainment!
It was the fourth league outing of the season and, true to Dragoons tradition, the match delivered thrills, spills, and more twists than a Netflix drama.
Following the excellent 7-0 victory over Opatkowianka last weekend, Gonçalo Ferreira made three personnel changes for the visit of league leaders Płomień Kostrze.

The first change saw Gabi Muñoz return to the line-up in place of Marcin Obyrtacz between the posts. In defence, Roman Bilovol shifted from right back to partner Kuba Drobny at centre back, while Francesco Leuci moved across into his more natural right back role after starting centrally last weekend. Utility man Szymon Urzędowski continued at left back as usual.
Midfield magician Enrico Forabosco missed out through injury, with Rob Smits stepping into the side. Fellow Dutchman Brian Lemmen also started at the base of midfield, replacing Omar Atzori, who dropped to the bench, with Fernando Gámez completing the midfield trio.
The attack remained unchanged, with Barry Chowaniec on the right wing, Janek Kołodziejski on the left, and Obed Sánchez leading the line.

Kick Off
Both sides showed intent in the opening stages, but the Expats struggled to keep the ball and failed to make an imprint on the game.
Disaster Strikes!
After just nine minutes, Kostrze took the lead with the first shot of the game. The visitors won possession in midfield, and the Dragoons allowed too much time and space for the break. Artur Hunchak picked up a pass and, from 25 metres, unleashed a low drive towards goal. It looked a routine save for Muñoz, but the ball disastrously squirmed under his body and into the net. One-nil down, the Dragoons had it all to do against the leaders.
Into the Lead
Thankfully, the Dragoons responded in style just nine minutes later. Fernando Gámez surged forward from deep inside his own half and threaded a pinpoint pass behind the defence. Barry Chowaniec raced onto it and squared across goal, where Obed Sánchez took a touch to sit the keeper down and rolled the ball into an empty net. 1-1, and the match was back on!
Sent for a hotdog!🌭

Behind Again!
Parity lasted just two minutes. In the 22nd minute, the Expats’ set-piece woes returned. Płomień swung a ball into the box, and after a scramble was turned into the Dragoons goal. However, the referee had other ideas and blew for a penalty before the ball hit net, penalising Brian Lemmen for a shove during the melee. The visitors protested, but the decision stood. Not to be denied, Kamil Wcisło stepped up and sent Muñoz the wrong way to restore the visitors lead for 2-1.
The Dragoons hit back with chances of their own. In the 27th minute, Kołodziejski worked hard to swing in a cross that Sánchez headed off target.
Just two minutes later, Rob Smits delivered another ball into the danger zone that skipped through to the box to find Kołodziejski unmarked at the far post. However, the Polish forward leaned back and blasted over from close range as glorious chance went begging.
Despite their positive play, the Expats went into the break trailing.
Second Half
Kostrze started strongly after the restart. Igor Ziembicki slipped a pass beyond the defence for Jakub Dudek to chase. Under pressure from Roman Bilovol, Dudek tumbled as he bore down on goal. It looked like a certain red card, but after consulting with his assistant, the referee only showed Bilovol yellow. A huge let-off for the Dragoons.
Dragoons Back Level!
The Expats soon found their rhythm and equalised in the 56th minute. Slick combination play saw Smits pick out half-time substitute Martin Voženílek down the right. The Czech whipped in a cross that took a fortunate deflection straight into the path of Sánchez and the Colombian hammered a first-time rocket into the top corner for his fourth goal of the season. Ferreiraball at its finest, and the Dragoons had their deserved equaliser at 2-2.

Just ten minutes later, Sánchez missed the chance for his hat-trick. Kołodziejski slipped him through one-on-one with the keeper after some aggressive pressing won back possession. With time to pick his spot, Sánchez could only fire tamely at the goalkeeper as the Expats passed up the chance to go in front.
Moments later, both sides went close. Atzori, on as a substitute, whipped a dangerous free-kick into the box that Drobny met with a diving header, but the effort lacked the power to trouble the keeper.
Kostrze then countered, with Dudek feeding Ziembicki, who went clean through on goal. Under pressure from Leuci, he fired high, but Muñoz reacted sharply to push it wide and deny the visitors an excellent opportunity.
Dragoons Spot Kick for the Lead
In the 73rd minute, the Dragoons finally went ahead for the first time to turn the game on it’s head. Sánchez flicked the ball with his head into the path of substitute Serhii Yelysieiev, who raced into the box. The Ukrainian tried to turn his marker, only to be floored by a clip on the shin. The referee immediately pointed to the spot to give the Expats a penalty of their own. The Canarian King Fernando Gámez stepped up and calmly slotted the resulting spot-kick into the corner of the net. 3-2, and the Expats were in dreamland!

Late Drama
But dreams rarely last long in this league. As the clock ticked down, the Dragoons began losing control, gifting away possession and conceding needless fouls. Panic set in, and yellow cards followed.
Deep into stoppage time, Płomień desperately poured forward in search of a share of the spoils. A looping ball into the area saw the referee point to the spot for a third time with Szymon Urzędowski adjudged to have hauled down an opponent. Drobny saw red in the aftermath for dissent and somehow, despite denying a clear goalscoring chance, Urzędowski stayed on the pitch. It looked a soft decision, but once the dust settled, Wcisło converted again, sending Muñoz the wrong way for the second time. 3-3. Despair for the Dragoons, relief for the leaders.
Still, the game wasn’t done. With the Dragoons rattled, Płomień pushed for a winner. A long ball caught out the defence once again, and the attacker took it down brilliantly before smashing against the post from a tight angle as the woodwork saved the Expats right at the death!
Moments later, the whistle blew. Both sides had chances to win, but neither could find the decisive strike. An extremely entertaining six-goal thriller ended with honours even. Despite the Expats feeling aggrieved at the ending, a draw was a fair result over the course of 90 minutes and it was an excellent game of football for the neutral. As the saying goes: if you want drama, come watch the Dragoons.

Next Up
The Dragoons return to action on Tuesday night with a rare midweek fixture away to 11th-placed Tramwaj II. The Trams have one win and three defeats, scoring seven goals but conceding 16. The joint second-worst defensive record in the league.
The last time the sides met came back in Klasa B. Adrian Paliś grabbed a hat-trick, only to be outdone by Yuri Samyonov, who came off the bench to score four. Joaquin Serrano, Josh Dawson, Enrico Forabosco, and Daniel Silva also found the net in an 11-1 win during the Expats’ promotion season. The only other meeting earlier that season ended 6-2 to the Dragoons. Enrico Forabosco scored a remarkable treble of wonder-goals, with Dawson, and Paliś (twice) completing the scoring.
A win on Tuesday could potentially lift Ferreira’s men into third place as they look to claim their first points on the road.
EDIT: UNFORTUNATELY, THE GAME VERSUS TRAMWAJ II FOR 16/09/2025 HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO A WATERLOGGED PITCH. NEW DATE TBC.
