The Card Merchant
Popular midfield man Mark Szczesnowicz hails from Melbourne, Australia with his family originally from Poland. Mark played football in Oz as a youngster for the likes of Chelsea Hajduk SC, Dandenong City and Langwarrin SC.
Szczesnowicz played first team football at Peninsula Strikers before injury struck and ended his time with the club.
After leaving Australia for Poland, Mark had to put his career on hold due to injury. A successful operation on his knee allowed him to restart playing and from there he found the Dragoons.
Mark scored his first goal in the final game of the 2019/20 season opening the scoring in a 10-0 victory over Grom. The Aussie found himself in nosebleed territory in the opponent’s half, timing his run perfectly to get on the end of a lovely outside of the boot pass from Bumba Jnr to go through on goal. Despite rushing the initial shot and forcing the keeper into a save, he kept his cool long enough to pass the rebound into the net.
The tough tackling midfielder is a part of the leadership group being club captain and won the players’ player of the season award in 2021.
#FunFact
When he is not entertaining the masses, often unintentionally, Mark has the record amount of yellow cards in Dragoons history (17 as of August 2024) and is undoubtably the most booked Australian citizen in Polish football.
