Dragoons Defeated!

The Dragoons tasted defeat for the first time since the restart of the season against Wieczysta II on Sunday.

It could have been a nightmare start for the Dragoons in only the fourth minute of the game. Wieczysta seemed to be through on goal, however Michał Nowak fouled his man on the edge of the box. The full-back was perhaps lucky to escape with only a yellow card following the tackle. Krzysztof Kalemba stood over the resulting free-kick but smashed the ball over the bar.

Despite the early pressure, the Dragoons had an early chance in the 10th minute with Nowak in the thick of the action. The defender saw one of his trademark long throws cleared back out in his direction. From the edge of the box, Nowak hit a clean effort on goal, but not enough to trouble the scoreline.

A moment later, Adrian Paliś attempted another effort for the Dragoons, but could not get his shot on target.

Wieczysta are the league leaders and have outscored all opponents this season so far. They showed just why they are so dangerous with a quick break and Muñoz García had to be alert to stop a fierce drive from Hubert Pachowicz.

On 15 minutes, Pachowicz weaved into the box and looked certain to score. However, Simon Calabrese showed excellent composure to knick away the ball, just before the striker pulled the trigger.

A lovely flowing move saw the Dragoons break on the counter-attack. Mark Szczesnowicz showed great composure in midfield and gave the ball to Enrico Forabosco. The midfield magician sprayed a lovely ball for Yuri Samyonov to run onto, who in turn found Paliś on the edge of the box. Unfortunately for the Dragoons top scorer, a Wieczysta man was in the way to block the goal-bound shot.

Deadlock Broken

Straight after the Dragoons chance, Wieczysta broke and scored the opening goal of the contest. Hubert Pachowicz found time on the edge of the box and unleashed a rocket, which flew past Muñoz García.

It was 2-0 minutes later as Pachowicz showed the Dragoons no mercy. The league’s top scorer latched onto a ball over the top and made no mistake putting the ball past Muñoz García.

A glaring opportunity fell for the Dragoons to reduce the arrears in the 22nd minute. Forabosco unleashed a teasing ball into the box and Paliś found himself completely unmarked. The striker failed to hit the target with his header however, and the chance went begging.

Another chance fell to the home side in the 27th minute. A Forabosco free-kick found Calabrese in the box, but the centre-back did not get enough of his head to the ball and it fell into the goalkeepers arms.

Wieczysta continued to press the home side, but could not find a further goal as the half came to an end.

Second Half

Into the second half the Dragoons came out flying. An excellent counter-attack saw Yuri Samyonov through on goal and finish expertly past Drzewiecki in the Wieczysta goal. However, the celebrations did not last long as the assistant referee flagged for offside to deny the home side a great start to the half.

It was the visitors turn to next go close as Pachowicz caused chaos in the Dragoons box. The striker was unable to turn the ball into the net after it had run loose through the Dragoons box.

From the following corner however, Pachowicz made no mistake by powering a header past Muñoz García and into the net. The goal completed a hat-trick for the Wieczysta man and left the Dragoons with it all to do.

In the 56 minute however, the Dragoons did pull a deserved goal back. Forabosco picked the ball up from Szczesnowicz out wide. The diminutive midfielder proceeded to dance into the box and unleashed a superb curling effort past Drzewiecki.

Just a minute later, Wieczysta had an excellent chance to increase their lead further. The visitors cut through the Dragoons with ease and Pachowicz somehow punted the ball wide from 8 yards.

Misfortunate Moments!

Disaster struck in the 65th minute for the Dragoons. A tame looking free-kick from Kalemba looked to be an easy claim for Muñoz García. Sadly for the stopper, the ball rolled through his legs and into the net to bring the score to 4-1.

Three minutes later and it was five for Wieczysta and a second goal for Kalemba. The experienced defender spotted Muñoz García off his line and unleashed an outrageous effort from his own half. The ball sailed over the home custodians head and into the net to further extend the visitors lead.

On 77 minutes it became 6-1 to the rampant visitors. A shot from distance spilled out of the hands of the despairing Muñoz García. Pachowicz was the quickest to react and poked the ball into the net for his fourth goal of the game.

The home side to their credit did not give up and continued to try and reduce the scoreline. Substitute Emre Bezirkan released Forabosco to drive towards goal. The midfielder attempted an early shot, but could only drill straight into the midriff of Drzewiecki.

Wieczysta further punished the Dragoons on 84 minutes to bring the score to 7-1. Dragoons sub Błażej Święcicki gifted possession to the visitors with a loose pass. Hubert Urbański gratefully received the ball and gave Muñoz García no chance with an expert finish.

Into the final minute of the game, the Dragoons had the last chance of the match. A quick break saw the home side burst forward and ball made its way to Emre Bezirkan. Despite having time and space, the Dragoons man shot first time and the ball was launched miles over the target.

It was a brave performance from the home side, however Wieczysta showed why they are unbeaten all season. The result is particularly harsh on Muñoz García who has been solid between the sticks for the Dragoons since the restart. The defeat sees the Expat team fall to fifth in the table, but will look to bounce back next week against T.S. Rybitwy.
