Dragoons Player of the Month: September
The three nominees for September’s Player of the Month: Enrico Forabosco, Bartek Chowaniec and Ceri Looker

It’s that time of the month where the Dragoons need your help to select the Player of the Month!

With only one league and one cup fixture played in August, a Player of the Month vote did not go to the public. However, Szymon Urzędowski put in an all action display on his debut to win Player of the Match in the penalty shoot-out defeat against Rafis. In the league game, Brian Lemmen picked up the Man of the Match against KS Dąbski. The Dutch defender made several key tackles as the Expats lost their first game of the season.

Recap

Into September, the Dragoons went unbeaten, but have only 6 points to show for their efforts. One thing that is always guaranteed however, is late drama! Each of the Expats matches this month has seen a goal arrive after the 90th minute. Frustratingly, not always the way of the Dragoons either!

The first game of September saw the Dragoons travel to Zwierzyniecki KS. A goal from Flavio Nkola and an own goal saw the Expats lead 2-0 early on. The hosts equalised before half time, but the Expats regained their two-goal advantage through Barry Chowaniec. The hosts grabbed a goal back soon after and equalised with the last touch of the game.

Masters of our own Downfall!

Next up, old foes Rybitwy travelled to Prądniczanka. Flavio Nkola curled the Expats into the lead and the side missed a tonne of chances to go further ahead. A disastrous 12 minutes saw the Expats concede three goals through their own errors. A big second half was needed, and Chandran pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left. The side dominated the half and got their reward in the very last minute as Ceri Looker slid the ball into the net to equalise.

A winnable away fixture came next in mid-September away at Krakus Swoszowice. Joaquin Serrano tapped the side into the lead going into the break. An equaliser came midway through the second period before Enrico Forabosco leathered an unstoppable penalty for an 81st minute lead. An inability to keep their advantage saw the hosts equalise late on to frustrate the Expats.

Our most recent fixture saw the Dragoons win for the first time this term against Bratniak. As usual, an early goal through Enrico Forabosco put the Expats ahead. The lead lasted under ten minutes as the visitors equalised. A shocking second half from the Dragoons saw Bratniak score twice more, before Josh Dawson pulled a goal back just before the half time whistle. A much improved second half saw Simon Calabrese equalise from a Forabosco corner. The winning goal came in the 88th minute as Chowaniec dispatched Nowak’s cross.

Nominees

Your nominees to pick from this month are:

Enrico Forabosco 🇮🇹

Forabosco has resumed where he left off last season. The midfield magician started all four games for the Expats. With the magic wand of a left foot, the Italian registered three assists and two goals during September. Enri is a key component of the team and keeps the side ticking with his ability to pick a pass. The midfielder won man of the match awards twice, against Krakus and Bratniak.

Enrico Forabosco of Krakow Dragoons FC
Always Believe In Your Soul — Popular midfield magician Enrico Forabosco has 4 assists and 3 goals to his name this season so far!

Barry Chowaniec 🇵🇱

Barry has enjoyed his start to life since signing for the Dragoons, starting in all fixtures so far this season. The Polish attacker scored three goals in September and played a key part in Flavio’s opening goal against Zwierzyniecki. Chowaniec has electric pace to beat opponents with ease and is a real threat to opposing defenders. It would not be a surprise if he is the most fouled player in the league too! Barry’s man of the match award came in the aforementioned draw versus Zwierzyniecki.

Bartek Chowaniec of Krakow Dragoons FC
Top Scorer — Barry currently leads the pile in the scoring column with four goals. There is much more to come for the Polish striker!

Ceri Looker 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Ceri started once against Krakus Swoszowice showing his versatility in being adept in defence. The Englishman has played most of his football from off the bench this season, usually slotting into midfield. Looker changed the game against Rybitwy, after entering the pitch in the 63rd minute. Playing in the centre of the park, he contributed with several key passes and grabbed the midfield by the scruff of the neck when it was desperately needed. He also claimed his first goal of the season and won the man of the match for his game-changing performance.

Ceri Looker of Krakow Dragoons FC vs Fairant
The Voice — Ceri Looker is always vocal on the pitch and a reliable option for the coaches. The Englishman scored his second Dragoons goal in September.
