We are Dragoons!
28th July 2019 will always be a special date in the history of the Dragoons. Lots of friends and family turned up for the first game on a very hot summer day.
It took only 10 minutes for the Dragoons to grab the lead. Ernesto Bumba Jr danced into the Fairant box and did well to ride the initial challenge. The defender went in a second time and clipped the Angolan’s heel and the referee awarded a spot-kick.
Daniel Silva stepped up with authority to drive home the first ever goal for the Dragoons!
One became two in the 41st minute with a Polish feel to the goal. Błażej Święcicki twisted and turned in the midfield and played a through-pass to Adrian Paliś. With just the keeper to beat, the striker slotted the ball home to increase the Dragoons lead, the first of many for the club’s current leading goal scorer.
Despite Fairant applying pressure on the Dragoons, a swift counter-attack led to the 3rd goal on the hour mark. The irrepressible Vitor Pereira played an inch perfect pass to Silva, who made no mistake with the finish.
Silva Lining for Fairant
Into the 67th minute and a terrible goal-kick from Fairant keeper ricocheted off of a defender’s leg. Bumba Jr swooped in and saw his progress halted in the box and a second penalty given. Club legend Dani Silva stood over the spot-kick for his hat-trick and there was never any doubt of what would come next – Dragoons 4-0 Fairant.
Two minutes later, Silva turned provider for Bumba Jr to score. Picking up a loose pass in midfield, the Portuguese playmaker played Bumba through on goal and the winger calmly slotted home via the post.
Vitor Pereira completed the scoring with a goal made in Portugal. Left back Marcelo Martins regained possession just inside the Fairant half. He picked out Pereira in acres of space and the attacker made no mistake planting a shot from range into the net for 6-0.
