About Mark
Popular midfielder Mark Szczesnowicz hails from Melbourne, Australia, with his family originally from Poland. Mark played football in Australia as a youngster for Chelsea Hajduk SC, Dandenong City, and Langwarrin SC.
He progressed to first-team football with Peninsula Strikers, but injury struck and prematurely ended his time with the club.
After moving to Poland, Mark had to put his career on hold due to injury. A successful knee operation allowed him to restart playing, and soon after he found the Dragoons.
Mark scored his first goal for the club in the final game of the 2019/20 season, opening the scoring in a 10-0 victory over Grom (he loved scoring against Grom…). The Aussie timed his run perfectly to latch onto a beautiful outside-of-the-boot pass from Bumba Jnr, went through on goal, and despite rushing the initial shot and forcing the keeper into a save, calmly slotted the rebound home.
A tough-tackling midfielder and natural leader, Mark became club captain and won the Players’ Player of the Season award in 2021.
Sadly, Mark stopped playing far too early as he no longer enjoyed the game. Since then, he has been a huge support to the coaching staff, stepping in whenever needed to help on the side-line or in training.
These days, you’ll usually find him in the crowd, energetically shouting at everyone about how bad they are… including the players! 😉
