About Dave
Football-mad David Burch answered Gareth Davis’ Facebook call for a kickabout, helping arrange a friendly at J&J Sports Centre, where Ashvin Asani and Alex Băcica joined to face the Sterling Outsourcing Biznesliga side, including Daniel Finnegan.
The friendlies quickly grew into something bigger. David focused on Biznesliga for a while, and after an infamous incident with one of the original kickabout organisers, he was temporarily ostracised from the original football group. Staying in touch with Alex, he returned to play in kickabouts and a few friendlies before the club officially became the Dragoons to play in Sunday League.
Dave’s love for the game waned after a series of injuries and wondering where his life was going, an invitation to watch a game with Alex against Wawel reignited his passion for the beautiful game.
Soon, David channelled his energy into helping the club off the pitch. He began creating content, writing detailed match recaps, and over time became integral behind the scenes. From setting up the VEO camera, handling social media, to live commentary on Twitter/X and keeping content flowing, he became the heartbeat of club communications alongside Daniel Silva.
David also briefly stepped into coaching roles, including a stint as stand-in Head Coach in a 3-1 victory over Juvenia Prandocin, and later as Assistant Manager to Hugo Cruz on matchdays in the 2024/25 season.
Today, as Vice President, David continues to drive the club forward, a trusted advisor, friend to the players, and the ever-present “agony uncle” keeping everyone on track, always pushing to make the Dragoons bigger and better.
