The six nominees for October’s Player of the Month: Kuba Drobny, Rohit Chandran, Josh Dawson, Brian Lemmen, Marcin Obyrtacz and Vałdzis Fuhaš

It’s that time once again when the Dragoons need YOUR help to vote for the player of the month. We have a real treat for you with SIX nominees to choose for you in the shape of Kuba Drobny, Rohit Chandran, Josh Dawson, Brian Lemmen, Marcin Obyrtacz and Vałdzis Fuhaš.

Recap

October started with the Dragoons travelling to the league leaders Galicja Raciborowice. The Expats found themselves behind after 10 minutes, but hit back through Yuri Samyonov. Galicja restored their lead shortly before half time through a spot-kick, but the Expats hit back with a penalty of their own as Taye Johnson came away with a creditable draw.

The next weekend saw the Expats stroll to a 3-1 victory against bottom side Bratniak. Rohit Chandran scored two excellent strikes to put the Dragoons into a half time lead. Club hero Dani Silva grabbed a 3rd with 15 minutes left to play, scoring with an excellent header. Bratniak spoilt the party in the last minute however, scoring a late consolation from range.

Losing Streak Begins

A trip to Nowa Huta saw the Dragoons slump to a 2-0 defeat to Wanda in a poor performance seeing the team lose pace on the league leaders.

Prądniczanka II stood in the Expats way next and a last minute goal condemned the side to a consecutive defeat. A slow start saw Prądniczanka take the lead inside 5 minutes. The Expats managed to assert their dominance on the game however, going into halftime 2-1 ahead through Forabosco and Nkola. Despite continuing to play well, missed chances would prove costly as Prądniczanka turned it around to take the points.

Fenix Trophy action saw the Dragoons welcome Vinsky FC from France in their next fixture. After an even first half, the Expats took the lead through Alessio Sassini in the 78th minute. The last minute curse hit again as the Expats conceded twice within a minute in a losing effort.

The final game of October saw the Expats travel to Victoria Smroków. Missed chances would again prove costly as the hosts went into the lead, but Sassini hit back to see that the Dragoons went into the break level. Smroków retook the lead in the second half and held on to win as the Dragoons fell to a 4th competitive defeat in a row.

Nominees

Kuba Drobny 🇵🇱

The Polish defender has been a near ever present for the Dragoons this season. Kuba started in five of the six matches during October winning man of the match in the draw against Galicja.

Rohit Chandran 🇮🇳

The Indian whirlwind has played in every game for the Expats so far this season. Rohit has played out wide and in central midfield, being a key player for the team. Two excellent goals against Bratniak saw Chandran win his man of the match award in a dominating 3-1 win.

Josh Dawson 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The Englishman returned to the team after his arm break and was immediately restored to the lineup. A poor performance by the team in the 2-0 loss to Wanda saw Dawson stand out to win the man of the match. Playing at left back, Dawson showed good energy through-out to support attacks and rarely got beaten in the tackle. The defender reached a personal landmark of 50 appearances in the 3-2 defeat against Prądniczanka II.

Brian Lemmen 🇳🇱

Another to reach 50 appearances in October is the Dutch dynamo Brian Lemmen. The Dragoons utilityman appeared 5 times during the month playing in his preferred midfield position. Always calm in possession, Brian won his man of the match award in the defeat against Prądniczanka II.

Marcin Obyrtacz 🇵🇱

The Polish goalie came into the team at the start of the month and has performed admirably. An outstanding performance in the Fenix Trophy against Vinsky saw the keeper make a number of saves. Marcin has been in the team for all 6 matches and can count himself unfortunate not to have had any clean sheets!

Vałdzis Fuhaš 🏴

Vałdzis has had to be patient for opportunities so far this season, but finally made his first start against Victoria. Despite a losing effort, Fuhaš put in a man of the match winning performance, creating a number of chances for the side.
