The Nicest Man in Football
Lorenzo Bartolomei, a fiercely proud Roman with the motto “life is football”, has been a mainstay at the club as goalkeeper coach and third-choice keeper.
With no other keepers available, Lorenzo stepped up to keep a clean sheet against Czarni 03 Grzegorzowice in the last game before the 2023/24 winter break.
He made a second appearance in the Fenix Trophy against FC United of Manchester. Despite a heavy 14-0 defeat, Lorenzo’s stellar performance kept the scoreline down and earned him admiration from the opposition fans.
Still an integral part of the team, Lorenzo continues to provide invaluable support on the touchline, guiding and mentoring the club’s keepers.
#FunFact
Lorenzo had multiple facts to share, but has a great story connected with football when he went to watch Dinamo Kiev – Manchester City in the 2010/11 season. Lorenzo stumbled upon a bunch of UEFA bibs in a bar next to the stadium (probably left behind by a photographer). Lorenzo decided he would wear the bib and try and get pitch side to watch the game. Amazingly, the outfit worked and Lorenzo took his place with the other media outlets right next to the pitch. When Shevchenko scored, he ran with him to their supporters, which was a memorable moment. If you don’t believe it, Lorenzo has the photographic evidence to prove the tale including some pics made by his friends from the stands.
