Debut: Wawel 1-7 Dragoons, B Klasa, 29 August 2020
Jamie started his football career with his local club Tadley Calleva FC, playing with them from the age of 7 to 16.
Beattie jokes that after failing to attract any attention from the top academy sides he later joined forces with his older brother at AFC Aldermaston and after the team split, he joined its breakaway side Headley FC.
A fun fact about AFC Aldermaston, they are famous for holding the longest losing streak in British football history (https://www.eurosport.com/football/britain-s-worst-team-draw_sto2287826/story.shtml). Jamie stressed that he had long since left by this point!
Jamie described himself as a better-looking Ray Parlour, gallivanting down the wing in his early career. Sadly, a persistent knee injury curtailed his playing days until he moved to Poland.
Beattie found the Dragoons on Facebook and despite missing the 2020 winter trial match, received an invite to train with the team. Jamie’s first training session happened just as COVID struck, meaning he had to wait some time before making his debut. He eventually made his debut in the 20/21 season and grabbed perhaps the quickest yellow card in Dragoons history, 30 seconds after entering the pitch as a substitute against Wawel.
The Englishman has played mostly as a central striker during his time with the Dragoons or at least when he isn’t injured! When fit however, the forward puts the horse into workhorse often chasing down and applying pressure on opponents, earning the respect of his team-mates with his all-action displays.
